Students

If you’re hoping to arrive in the United States or stay here to continue your education, you can be confident that the Godzina Law supports your goals 100%. We understand your ambition, and we will help you protect your legal status in pursuit of it.

The appropriate categories for students are:

F-1 (academic students).
M-1 (vocational students).
J-1 (exchange students).
F-1 and M-1 students must be accepted in a program approved through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
J-1 students must be accepted in a program which has been approved by the Department of State (DHS). These programs are available for both secondary and college students.

After acceptance, prospective students generally will need to apply for a visa at the U.S. consulate abroad in order to enter the U.S. Some individuals who are in the U.S. may be eligible to apply to change their status to that of a student.

Consular Processing

Consular processing is a method by which a beneficiary of an approved family-based, employment-based, investor-based or other immigration petition can apply for a visa through a U.S. Department of State consulate office abroad. There are many benefits when it comes to  consular processing. However, you must first determine if you fit into an eligible immigrant category which permits this form of processing.

Generally, consulates do not permit in-person representation. However, Godzina Law can communicate with the consulate on your behalf, prepare you for the interviews and with your application.
